Renau is a small town on the Malaysian side of Borneo. It is a stop over for several long distance bus routes and most of the people I saw here looked much different than any others I saw in Asia. Also, a great many seemed to be always indulging in the betel nut which causes red stained teeth and lips and gives them a buzz.
I spoke to some locals that (as is the case on other islands in the region) do not consider themselves Malaysian but rather as one said "Borneo Man".
